Gerardo Jiménez-Sánchez

Medical doctor, certified pediatrician, PhD in human genetics and molecular biology from Johns Hopkins University, with a degree in Business Administration from the IPADE. Member of the National Academy of Medicine, Member of the New York Academy of Sciences, Member of the Mexican Academy of Pediatrics, Founding President of the Mexican Society of Genomic Medicine (2003-2004), General Director Founder of the National Institute of Genomic Medicine (2004-2009), Chief Scientific Officer, Biofields (2009-2010); Board Member at P3Gs (2006 to date); President of the Working Party on Biotechnology at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) (2007- ), Council member to the Human Genome Organization (2009- ); Executive President, Global Biotech Consulting Group (2010 to date), Chairman of the Board of Genomica y Bioeconomía (2012 to date), Adjunct Professor at Harvard School of Public Health (2012 to date).

Pedro Aspe

Born in Mexico City in 1950, is co-Chairman of Evercore Partners (EVR), a leading investment bank in the USA, and CEO of EVR Mexico. Since 1996 EVR Mexico has advised in more than 250 transactions, including private equity placements, mergers & acquisitions, Real Estate Investment Trusts, project financing and municipal bonds. In 2006, Protego combined with Evercore Partners, based in New York and it became a public company in the NYSE. Dr. Aspe has been a professor of Economics at ITAM and has held a number of positions with the Mexican government: was founder of INEGI (National Bureau of Statistics), Secretary of the Budget and Secretary of Treasury of Mexico. Dr. Aspe is a member of the Board of McGraw-Hill (NY) and of Televisa (Mexico). He is also a Board member of CIDE and CENTRO in Mexico City and co-Chairman of the North American Forum. Currently he sits on the Advisory Board of Marvin & Palmer (Wilmington), Inditex Mexico and Endeavor and the Mario Molina Center (Mexico).



 

José Carral Escalante

Chairman of the Club de Industriales de México. Law Degree from the UNAM. He has a PhD from New York and California Universities. Chairman of Carral y Asociados, S.C. firm with over 40 years of experience in international banking. Representative of Mexico before Bank of America and Vice-chairman of said bank for over 25 years. Representative of Mexico before Credit Commercial de France, a position he held for 15 years. Founder, Vice-chairman Senior and Representative of Intermex. Advisor of multiple international companies like HSBC México, Bank of Tokyo, Mitsubishi, Alcatel, California Commerce Bank, Bancrecer and Continental Airlines. Associate Member of the Mexican Health Foundation and Advisor of UNICEF México.



 

Julio Frenk

Member of the Institute of Medicine; Dean of the School of Public Health, Harvard University (2009 up to date). Advisor of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Medical Doctor with a specialty in public health and a Masters degree in sociology from the University of Michigan. Member of the National Academy of Medicine and of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Member of the Mexican Society of Public Health and of the Mexican Society of Genomic Medicine. General Director and Founder of the National Institute of Public Health (1987–1992); Executive Vice-president of the Mexican Foundation for Health (1995- 1998); Secretary of Health of the Federal Government (2000-2006); Director of Innovation in Health from the World Health Organization (1987-2000). T & G Angelopoulos Professor of Public Health and International Development, Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Kennedy School (2009 up to date).



 

José Ángel Gurría

Mr. Gurría holds a B.A. degree in Economics from National Autonomous University of Mexico. M.A. degree in Economics from Leeds University (United Kingdom). Mexico's Minister of Foreign Affairs (1994-1998) Mexico's Minister of Finance and Public Credit (1998-2000). As OECD Secretary-General, since June 2006, he has reinforced the OECD's role as a 'hub" for global dialogue and debate on economic policy issues while pursuing internal modernisation and reform. He has also reinforced the impact of OECD work in several domains, and has steered the launching of high profile initiatives, including several strategies in the domain of Innovation, Green Growth, Gender, Development and Skills. He also launched the "New Approaches to Economic Challenges", an OECD reflection process on the lessons from the crisis with the aim to upgrade OECD's analytical frameworks and develop a comprehensive agenda for sustainable and inclusive growth.



 

Guillermo Soberón (Chairman of the Board)

Received his Medical Degree from the UNAM, he has a PhD in physiology from the University of Wisconsin. Member of the National College (1981- ), is a Member of the National Academy of Medicine (1959- ), Chairman of the National Academy of Medicine (1973-1974); Founding President of the Mexican Society of Biochemistry (1957), Founding Member of the Mexican Society of Physiological Sciences (1957). Coordinator of Sciences of the UNAM (1971-1973), Dean of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (1973-1981), Secretary of Health of the Federal Government (1982-1988), Executive Chairman (1988-2005) and Emeritus Chairman of the Mexican Foundation for Health (2005 up to date); Member of the Consultative Board of Sciences of the Presidency of Mexico. He is currently President of the Scientific and Medical Council to the ISSSTE.



 

Diego Valadés

Law Degree from the UNAM. PhD in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Attorney General of Mexico (1992-1994). Attorney General of Mexico (1992-1994). Minister of Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico (1994-1995). Director of the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of the UNAM (1998-2006). In the UNAM he has held the positions of Assistant Director of Radio Universidad, General Director General of Cultural Broadcasting, Director of the University’s Journal, Lawyer and Coordinator of Human Studies. Member of the Committee of Ethical Issues of the Promotion Consortium of the Instituto de Medicina Genómica (2000-2004). Member of El Colegio Nacional. Lead Investigator of the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of the UNAM.
